NBA Players Who Drive Cheap Cars

NBA players may be some of the most highly paid athletes in the world, with the average player earning approximately $7.5 million per year. But not all NBA players live a life of excess.

And while some NBA players will spend their fortunes on the latest cars, the biggest homes, and the finest jewelry, other NBA players are more conservative with their earnings, often opting to remain humble in the face of newfound riches.

Below we are going to look at the NBA players who still drive cheap cars. For these NBA players, their newfound wealth has not changed their spending habits and they continue to drive cars which many of us would consider cheap.

LeBron James

LeBron James may be one of the best paid NBA players and athletes in the world. With a reported net worth of nearly $500 million, LeBron James definitely doesn’t have to worry about the cost of a new car.

However, even with all that wealth, LeBron James can still be seen cruising around Los Angeles in his 2019 Kia K900. Admittedly still a beautiful car, it retails for less than $45,000.

And while LeBron James can still be seen driving his Kia K900, he does spoil himself with a few other cars in his garage, including a 2012 Bentley GT and 2006 Hummer H1.

Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler has one of the saddest stories of all NBA players.

Born in Houston, Texas, Butler’s father left the family when he was an infant. When he was just 13 years old, his mother kicked him out of the house.

Butler recalls that his mother simply told him, “I don’t like the look of you. You gotta go.”

However, Jimmy Butler would go on to be drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 30th pick in the 2011 NBA draft. And though he has earned over $100 million in his career, he still opts to drive a 2017 Toyota Sienna whose retail price starts at $28,000.

Brandon Jennings

Brandon Jennings played in the NBA for 9-seasons. During that time, he amassed a wealth of just over $40-million. Yet that wealth never changed Jennings. Although he earned enough money during his playing career to afford the finest vehicle, he has opted to continue driving his 2010 Ford Edge.

The 2010 Ford Edge currently retails for just under $15,000. Let’s just say Jennings could definitely have afforded something just a tad bit nicer if he wanted to.

Kawhi Leonard

One of the most humble and most loved NBA players, Kawhi Leonard is a two-time NBA champion and a five-time All-Star, with three All-NBA First Team selections. However, even with all those accolades, Kawhi Leonard remains humble throughout.

And although he has earned more than $176 million in earnings from the NBA, he still opts to drive a 1997 Chevy Tahoe. Reportedly, Leonard salvaged the car from his grandmother’s garage.

What’s more? Apparently the car didn’t run when he first salvaged it, requiring significant work to fix it. However, Kawhi Leonard has indicated that he plans to continue driving it because it’s paid off.

Ron Artest

Ron Artest, or Metta World Peace, may be best known for his defensive abilities or the infamous “Malice at the Palace”, but Artest likes to keep his vehicle choices humble.

Artest reportedly drives a Hyundai Genesis with gold hood louvers. Given to him by comedian George Lopez, Artest can be seen driving the car in all of its glory, if it really has any.
