Maine Basketball League

The Maine Basketball League was established in 2014, as the Central Maine Basketball League by Ray Bernier, who serves as the Commissioner of the league. For six years and twelve seasons, the league was local to Central Maine.

The MBL is Maine’s #1 amateur men’s basketball league and runs twice a year in the Spring (March – May) and in the Fall (August – November). It is known for its draft-style league, where interested participants sign up to be in the draft pool before each session.

Typically, eight teams are drafted per season, sometimes reaching ten in seasons of extreme demand. Players in the draft pool are chosen by league captains at live draft events. Registrations are on a first come, first serve, paid basis ($150/player). This fee covers board-certified officials for every game, venue costs, personalized jerseys, a slew of awards (including a championship trophy), and more!
