What to Wear to an Atlanta Braves Game?

Whether you live in the Atlanta area, the surrounding metropolitan cities, or are simply visiting from out-of-town, attending an Atlanta Braves game can be one of the most enjoyable and exciting experiences you’ll have.  With the area surrounding Truist Park having been recently renovated, you’ll find a plethora of food and drink options to keep you busy both before and after the baseball game.

And whether it’s your first time to Truist Park or you’re a season ticket holder, attending an Atlanta Braves game can be loads of fun for the entire family.  But before you head out to the local game, you may be wondering, what exactly should I wear to an Atlanta Braves game?

Below, we’re going to review what to wear to an Atlanta Braves game and provide you with options to ensure you blend in perfectly with the local crowd and other Braves fans.  And because the Braves wear a mix of red, navy blue, and white, these clothing pieces will go perfectly with many of your other outfits as well!

Things to do Around Truist Park

The Atlanta Braves play at Truist Park, which is located at 800 Battery Ave SE, Atlanta, GA, 30339.  However, the area surrounding Truist Park is called The Battery.  The Battery is a mixed-use development site which has tons of restaurants, bars, and social activities.  In addition, there are residential and commercial spaces within The Battery for local citizens and companies.

If you’re visiting The Battery and plan to attend an Atlanta Braves game, here are some of the must-see, and must-try, items.  And while you may not be able to try all of these locations in one visit, we highly recommend visiting multiple times to really get a better taste of the local flavor.

• The Braves Clubhouse Store – if you’re a fan of the Atlanta Braves, then you’ll be sure to love The Braves Clubhouse Store.  Jampacked with official Atlanta Braves merchandise for men, women, and kids, this store has all the Braves merchandise and gear you can hope for.  From official hats, t-shirts, and uniforms to memorabilia commemorating the 2021 World Championship.

• Baseballism – if you’re looking for baseball gear and merchandise with a unique twist, then Baseballism is the perfect spot.  Located at The Battery, Baseballism features unique streetwear fashion that is sure to turn a few heads and garner looks of support.  A great store and one located close to the entrance to Truist Park.

• Antico Pizza –  perhaps one of the best spots for pizza in all of Atlanta, Antico’s Pizza serves fresh, authentic, mouthwatering pizza and pasta with a world-class interior design.  The food is affordable and will leave full and satisfied.

• H&F Burger –if you’re craving a real burger, one that is juicy, stacked with toppings, and perfectly cooked all around, then H&F Burger is the spot.  Almost too good to be true, H&F Burger’s hit the spot every time and are a perfect pre-game meal.

• Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream – dare we say the best ice cream in Atlanta?  Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream has been a staple in the Atlanta metropolitan area, attracting fans and devotees from states away.  With a plethora of ice cream flavors and the use of only real flavors and dyes, Jeni’s is the perfect postgame dessert for any Braves fan.

General Weather Conditions in Atlanta

Once you’ve found a list of things to do both before and after the Braves game, it is important to plan your outfit.  However, doing so requires understanding the general weather conditions and climate in Atlanta and near Truist Park.

Generally, Atlanta, being in the southeast portion of the country, has a mild, warm climate nearly year-round.  And although the temperatures do dip into the lower 30’s between December through February, those are months that the MLB is offseason.

During the MLB season, and for when the Braves play at their home stadium, that is between the months of April through October, the weather generally remains within a low of 50-degrees to a high of 89-degrees.  Of course, these conditions can fluctuate, but generally the weather in Atlanta is quite mild and warm.

Preparing for an Atlanta Braves Game

Due to the generally warm weather in Atlanta, you should prepare yourself for hotter conditions.  Although the temperature does drop a bit as the sunsets, with the longer summer days, you may still feel the warmth and tinge of the sun against your skin as the game starts.

As such, it is always recommended to apply sunscreen before heading out to a game and when in the sun for prolonged periods of time.  Sunscreen is one of the best forms of protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays. 

In addition to reducing the risk of sunburn, sunscreen can dramatically reduce your risk of skin cancer.  Statistics have shown that by the age of 70, one in five Americans will develop skin cancer.  However, you can lower your risk by using sunscreen with a minimum rating of SPF 30 or higher when you are planning on being out in the sun for prolonged periods of time.

Similarly, be sure to drink copious amounts of hydrating liquids, including water and sports drinks to help against the heat.  These drinks will also help to keep you hydrated and will ensure that you remain active and awake during the game.

A Baseball Cap

One of the best, and easiest, pieces of clothing to wear to the Braves game is none other than a baseball cap.  Not only will a baseball cap help you to avoid the beating sun on your forehead and in your eyes, but most baseball caps feature the logo of the team you are rooting for.

Personally, we’ve purchased and wear the New Era MLB Atlanta Braves Home Baseball Cap.  A classic design and one that is commonly seen throughout the city, the baseball cap has simple yet striking features.  With a navy blue top and red cap, the signature Atlanta Braves ‘A’ is prominently displayed in the front of the cap.

Atlanta Braves T-Shirt or Jersey

When it comes to upper wear, honestly the best options when going to a baseball game are to rep the. Team’s jerseys or a t-shirt with their logo.  Both options are easy and generally affordable and will also allow you to showcase your team fandom.

However, we personally have never been fans of wearing team jerseys due to their relative tightness around the arms.  In addition, team jerseys can be quite costly, sometimes coming to several hundreds of dollars.  Rather, we generally opt for a short or long-sleeved shirt with the team logo, name, or phrase.

In recent years, we’ve been sporting the Atlanta Phenom t-shirt, which is an ode to Ronald Acuna Jr.  the shirt is simple in design and colors, neither too subtle nor too obnoxious for our taste.  In addition, it shows off our fandom and support for the team without being too loud about it.

Jeans or Khaki Shorts

While you can wear jeans or khakis to an Atlanta Braves game, if the weather is expected to be hot and warm, then shorts are definitely our first option.  And depending on the type of shorts you wear, you can mix-and-match your top with the shorts to create a more matching look.

However, we generally go for comfort over style, especially while at the ballgame.  And as the weather will be warm and hot, you don’t want to feel sweaty and uncomfortable throughout the duration of the game.  Rather, opt for shorts or pants which are a bit loose and will allow your legs to breathe and not feel enclosed.

Sunglasses

Lastly, if you are planning on attending an Atlanta Braves game set for the middle of the day, it may be worthwhile to bring along a pair of sunglasses.  With the sun directly overhead, it may be difficult to view what is happening on the field without sunglasses.

Further, sunglasses should be able to help you avoid squinting and causing strain to your eyes.  And while you could opt for a pair of smart glasses, you really don’t have to and a simple pair should suffice for the day.
