The Boston Celtics are one of the most-hallowed teams in all of sports. With a record 17 NBA championships to their name, the Celtics have a loyal, fervent fanbase which can be found supporting and rooting for the team, win-or-lose.

And whether it’s your first-time visiting the grounds of TD Garden or you’re a season ticket holder, the Celtics are sure to put on an amazing display of sportsmanship, athleticism, and jaw-dropping dunks to keep even the most avid fan in awe.

Where do the Boston Celtics Play?

Currently, the Boston Celtics play at TD Garden, one of the most hallowed and revered stadiums and arenas in all of sports. A multi-purpose arena in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, it is named after it long-time sponsor TD Bank.

Located directly above the MBTA’s North Station, TD Garden is easily accessible by subway, foot, drive, or via a taxi-cab.

And in addition to being the home of the NBA’s Boston Celtics, TD garden is also the home arena for the NHL’s Boston Bruins.

Similarly, TD Garden hosts multiple NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament games and serves as a concert venue for a slew of numerous nationally touring music and comedic acts.

Why Does TD Garden Have Parquet Floors?

Whether you’ve been to TD Garden, the old Boston Garden, or have simply watched the Boston Celtics play at their home court, you may have noticed that the flooring on the court was made of a parquet design.

But just why does TD Garden have parquet floors?

The parquet flooring look was actually the product of a lumber shortage in 1946, just as the Boston Celtics were about to debut in the Basketball Association of America (BAA).

Due to the aftermath of World War II, many common, household items were in short supply. This included professionally cut wood. And with much of the manufactured wood earmarked for residential homes for servicemen who returned from the war, the Celtics were in dire straits.

Rather than postpone the opening and ceremonial season, Walter Brown, the original owner of the Boston Celtics, opted to get scraps of wood from local lumber yards throughout the Boston area.

As Jeff Twiss, the Celtics vice president of media services and alumni relations would recount:

“What Walter Brown, the original owner of the Celtics, did in order to I guess attract fans and attract good players maybe back then — an early selling point — was to get a good, quality floor made…The only way they could do that was getting scraps of wood at lumber yards throughout Boston and put together a floor. And it just happened to be in patterns that formed a parquet-type of a design.”

And, interestingly enough, the original basketball court was constructed for just $11,000. The pieces were laid out in an alternating pattern and there was a total of 247 5-foot by 5-foot square panels held together by wood planks, brass screws, and 988 bolts.

And although the newly designed and built TD Garden did not have those same lumber shortages, as an homage to the team’s history, the parquet floor design was continued.

What Are the Boston Celtics Team Colors and Logo?

The Boston Celtics have long been associated with their leprechaun logo. Since 1968, a green leprechaun spinning a basketball has been the official logo of the team. Named Lucky, the leprechaun has long been associated with the Celtics and has remained their logo.

Similarly, the Boston Celtics team colors have long been green and white. However, in more recent years, the colors black, gold, and brown have been added in different variations and schemes and continue to uphold the original traditions of the Celtics.

Best Outfits to Wear to a Boston Celtics Game

While the Boston Celtics have added additional colors to their team logo and design, the original green and white color schemes continue to be the most popular and well-known.

As such, if you are looking to attend a Boston Celtics game and really showoff your Celtics fandom and pride, wearing green is an obvious choice.

Now, if you don’t happen to have any Celtics’ gear or merchandise, and aren’t looking to add any to your collection, then a simple green-esque shirt should suffice. Though it may not be true to the team’s color, it should suffice to showoff your fandom.

However, if you are looking to showoff your Celtics pride, there are a plethora of options to do so.

Of course, your best bet, is to simply purchase a genuine Boston Celtics jersey. A Boston Celtics jersey will not only help to elevate your fandom but is also a great jersey to wear outside of the game.

Particularly if you are roaming the streets of Boston, you are likely to encounter a sea of green with other fans likely wearing their Celtics jersey’s to show a unified support for the team.
