NBA Players Who Play Xbox and Their Gamertags

The Xbox is one of the most popular consoles available on the market.  And with nearly 51% of all American households owning a gaming console, it should come as no surprise that many NBA players also own, and actively play, on a gaming console.  Below, we are going to look at NBA players who play Xbox and their gamertags.

As NBA players are some of the most popular sports athletes in the country, their gamertags are often shared by friends.  However, for many of these players,  getting them to accept your friend request may be an uphill battle.  Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t try.

Quick History of the Xbox

The Xbox is an extremely popular gaming console.  Originally released on November 15,2001, the original Xbox would reach 24 million units sold by May 2006.  Owned and released by famed technology company Microsoft to compete against the growing PlayStation, the heads of Microsoft saw the PlayStation as a threat to their burgeoning personal computer line.

Since its inception, Microsoft has released additional iterations of the Xbox, including the Xbox 360, the Xbox One, and more recently the Xbox Series X and Series S.

Why do NBA Players Play Xbox?

NBA players, like many of us, look to enjoy their time off and relax after particularly difficult games, practices, and seasons.  A distinct reason as to why so many NBA players prefer to play basketball in larger metro regions, the escape from responsibilities and opportunities to explore a city are oftentimes enticing benefits.

And in a similar vein, the Xbox, or any gaming platform for that matter, are oftentimes a great way to relax, spend some time with friends, and unwind after a long day.  And NBA players, after all, are human too.  And although the NBA life is certainly glamorous, it can also be draining and difficult both mentally and physically.

The Xbox, therefore, can be a great escape.  It offers NBA players, and individuals worldwide, an opportunity to relax, unwind, and play with friends near-and-far.

And lastly, for many NBA players, the Xbox and the PlayStation consoles are often utilized to play the latest NBA video games.  While there are certainly a plethora of apps on the iPhone and Android devices to play basketball games, they simply do not compare to playing on an Xbox or other dedicated gaming console.

By playing on an Xbox or PlayStation, these NBA players can take advantage of all the features of the latest NBA2K games and can even play as themselves on the game.  While perhaps not the compelling reason, it is definitely a cool one.
