Full List of NBA Players Who Scored 70+ Points in a Game

The NBA is one of the most difficult and elite basketball leagues in the world. With world-class athletes and basketball players, the NBA is unlike any other basketball league. And having produced some of the greatest basketball players to play the game, some NBA players are able to take their skills to the next level during their time in the league.

For those players, being able to score, and score consistently and efficiently, elevates them to the upper-echelon of basketball greatness and stardom.

Below, we are going to review the full list of NBA players who scored 70+ points in a game. These players were able to score over 70 points in a single regulation NBA game and, many of them, were able to repeat the feat later in their careers.

Wilt Chamberlain

One of the greatest NBA players of all time, Wilt Chamberlain has one of the most impressive basketball resumes. The only player to score 100-points in an NBA game, Wilt Chamberlain stood in at 7’1″ and played the center position.

Playing in the NBA for 14-years, Wilt Chamberlain holds numerous NBA regular season scoring, rebounding, and durability records. In his 14-years in the league, Chamberlain averaged at least 30 points and 20 rebounds per game for seven seasons and is the only player in the history of the league to average at least 30 points and 20 rebounds per game over the course of his career.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant is one of the most polarizing players to play in the NBA.  Although he is considered one of the all-time greats to play the game, he did so in his own style.  But this style did not come without much criticism, particularly for his almost stubborn willingness to place the game on his shoulders to determine the outcome of the game.

Playing in the NBA for 20-years, Kobe Bryant would amass a length and notable basketball resume. A 5-time NBA champion, a 2-time NBA Finals MVP, an NBA Most Valuable Player Award, an 18-time NBA All-Star, a 4-time NBA All-Star Game MVP, and an 11-time All-NBA First Team selection to name a few.

David Thompson

David Thompson is not a household name. But he played for both the Denver Nuggets and the Seattle SuperSonics for both the ABA and the NBA. A star in college for North Carolina State, he led the Wolfpack to their first NCAA championship in 1974. In addition, he would be inducted into the Naismith Basketball hall of Fame in 1996.

Elgin Baylor

One of the greatest NBA players of all-time, Elgin Baylor played all fourteen of his seasons for the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in eight NBA Finals.  He was a natural and gifted shooter, a strong rebounder, and an accomplished passer.

As the number 1 overall draft pick in the 1958 draft, Baylor would earn the Rookie of the Year award in 1959 season.  He is also an 11-time NBA All-Star and a 10-time member of the All-NBA first team.

Although Elgin Baylor was a great NBA player, he was also an Army Reservist.  And during the 1961-62 NBA season, he was called to active duty, being stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington.

While on active duty, he could only play for the Lakers on the weekends.  Despite his limited game time, Baylor still managed to score over 1,800 points.  Later in the season, in a playoff round against the Boston Celtics, he would average 40.6 points and 17.9 rebounds per game.

David Robinson

David Robinson is, perhaps, the best NBA player associated with the military.  Leading the Navy to one-game of the Final Four, Robinson fulfilled his active-duty obligations with the Navy before departing for the NBA.

In the NBA, he would become a 10-time NBA All-Star, the 1995 NBA MVP, and a two-time NBA champion. Nicknamed “The Admiral”, he was born in Key West, Florida, David Robinson would be selected by the San Antonio Spurs, where he would remain for his illustrious career.
